I need a good paint color for my bedroom.
I’m doing glow in the dark lettering (for Bible verses)
and I need a base color.
Thank You.
I also have a black light that I might put on my desk so you can see the glow on the bark lettering.
*glow in the dark*

That would look awesome on a dark coloured wall but you don’t want to paint the whole room in midnight blue or a moss green so maybe you can have an accent wall in one of those colours oruse one of those colours as a runner like a broad stripe across the wall right around the room then put them on there..would look great at night and cool in the day.

Well, the base color I’m thinking the color of the walls and ceiling where the black color text will be, right? I recently had to think of a custom pencil design that a hypothetical priest of a local church might want so maybe the colors I chose will work for you too.
In keeping with the bible verses, I would try a white color (white for background color of bible pages with black text) or very light colored beige (it sorta looks like angel white but not that white) so when you look at the bible verses text, it’ll feel like you’re reading a huge bible on the wall in your room (I think this is the effect you’re going for?). Very light colored blue/sky blue will also work.
The only issue is, it’s glow in the dark green so not too many colors go well with that color since presumeably the area around the text is black (so I guess maybe still try using a light color paint but stick a low-level light source in the room so you can kinda see the paint color you ultimately pick, but not too power-consuming as this will raise your electric bill by quite a bit, heh).
Hope this helps.

you could have one side of the bed room painted dark with the lettering on it. I don’t think a full dark room would work well with the religion concept and its normally considered light (god, for instance walk to the light”) then have the light covering on that wall maybe even put your bed facing it so you can always read it.
Good Luck.

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the “painted” rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think “sassy green” (# 6416) might look good.
You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:
http://www.roomvues.com/
You can get color suggestions & they’ll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

You definitely want to pick a color that will not blend in with the glow in the dark paint. Meaning noo light colors like pale pink..or very very light green, tan, or white..you want to go with dark colors such as black, brown, red, blue, purple, darker greens(even lime green would work well)..your going to want the verses to “stand out’ Hope i helped!
p.s: make sure that when u want the glow in the dark paint to “glow”(ex: when you go to bed”)..make sure that you leave the light on in for a good amount of time so that the paint shows up well..just a tip for u

Try dark purple. Is this going on the walls or ceiling? I would do a 8-12 inch deep band of color next to the ceiling (like a border). That way it would be a real conversation piece without being over-the-top, in your face:) P.S. It should go all the way around the room for impact.

Question–: Paint colors for bedroom?
I’d like to do a oak wood trim with half wall one color and half another color. Which colors are good together and does the lighter color go on top or on bottom? I love all colors – any ideas would be great.
The answer in the following: (Hint: The answer is not necessarily.)
Answer by jennifer k
Sounds great! I definately think the darker should go on the bottom and lighter on top. The colors depend on your favorite, do you prefer pastels or darker shades or primary colors? If you like the darker shades, I’d do a tan or brown on the bottom and a pale yellow or sage on the top. You could also go two shades of the same color. Like an off white on the bottom and a brighter white on top. Best of luck!

Go to Sherwin Williams and pick up a paint pallet. They give you this thing that has a color sample of every color imaginable. Pick two colors from the same card for a sublte shade difference or two colors from different cards for a stark contrasting difference. Personally my bedroom is done in two shades of green as well as my dining room in two more shades of another green. My office is done in red and yellow. My dining room has a chair rail so I have the darker color on the bottom. You could do it the opposite way but I tend to think that would make the room feel a bit smaller. My other rooms I have three walls in one color and the 4th wall as a different color. You can also go on Sherwin Williams website or Behr paints website and they have programs where you can paint walls in a room. It’s really fun! I created one room in Red, Beige and Black to have an Asian theme. Loved it, but was afraid to use red in my house (very hard color to match). Have fun!!!

Try a light creme and then try a dark creme.

I would go with a bold color on the bottom and a very light neutral color on top.
Also, at Menards in the paint section they have a display with small jars of color. Don’t know who came up with this idea but I think it’s fabulous. Before you commit to any colors you can buy a couple of these sample jars and test. I think their only a couple dollars each. Good luck.
Answer by sortaclarksville
I would stick with a warm color since oak is a warm-toned wood. Lighter color on top (otherwise it makes the ceiling appear to be “sinking” into the room and give you a closed-in cave feeling).
I would also stay with two colors on the same paint chip – light and dark shades of the same tone.
The smaller the room, the lighter or more neutral tone you should pick. With a large room you can go a little bolder….go all out and pick anything you like. It’s just paint and paint is cheap, so if you don’t like it, you just cover it up.
What do you think? Answer below!
