Q&A–: How do I get rid of threads left by cheap paint rollers?
When we bought our house we painted it. It was our first time painting so we made some mistakes. We used cheap rollers so now we have several areas on our walls that are covered in threads that came off the roller. I’m going to repaint over Christmas break. How do I get rid of these threads (i.e. sand, paint thinner, etc)?

Lightly sand the areas. I always run a lint roller over my rollers before using. You can also use scotch tape.

You can take care of this by lightly sanding your walls by hand with fine grain sand paper. You can also break eggs and rub it all over your walls, and that dissolves the thread, which can be easily washed then, with soap and water.

To prevent this problem in the future, you could buy better rollers, use a lint brush, scotch tape, or you could hold the brush out the window on your way home from the hardware store. This way, the little brushy things will blow off.

- Sometimes, you can get paintbrushes from a random event. (I’m not recommending refreshing your page just to get there, though.)
- You can always play the games a lot, if you’re that interested in earning. (Fashion Fever is a must-played game if you want ‘free NP’.)
- If you actually have anything valuable (that, strangely, you don’t need) … sell it.

… An example of a cheap paintbrush is a Christmas paintbrush. I’ve seen the cheapest at 45k (and above).

That yellow? That’s called "Vellum". And the window trim is new too. It only looks old.

It looks better than it used to.

I replaced the old brown outlet and switch. The wiring is still old knob-and-tube. And this room (on the main floor) is the last part of the house on a circuit on the old breaker box labelled "basement light"

They’re so easy to do and we’re gonna take a couple of minutes – that’s about what it takes – because we want to get in there and get out. Here’s one approach To show you the clouds or sky, I’ve done this little drawing of a local scene in the wintertime. We’re going to have some clouds back in here and some darker sky above because it is still wintertime. The first thing I’m gonna do is wet that area a little bit. This is 140 lb. cold-pressed paper by the way, so I’m not going to stretch it I’ll be able to paint right on it. I can dampen this area and come over the trees and the mountain part – don’t worrya bout that. We’ll leave some of the areas a little bit drier than others. You can also take a paper towel and actually blot out a little bit of the moisture in here – just lightly – and that will give a different effect also. Then we’ll pick up some color and we’re going to start out with a basic ultramarine and a little bit of burnt sienna or old sienna in it to give us a kind of grayish color. Now that did get gray didn’t it? I’m going to add a little bit of warmer old sienna to it. In here is going to be some of our cloud area. I’m going to change it again with a little cooler color. Now I’m simply going to pick up a damp brush and soften some of these edges, let some of that come down in …
