I change my home decor a lot (probably once every two or three years), so I end up painting my bedroom dresser a lot, too. But I’m tired of using the mini roller and a few people have suggested spray painting it because it’s faster. I just can’t find spray paint anywhere though. I’ve tried home improvement stores like Home Depot and also craft stores. I haven’t asked any of the employees, though. I’m sure they still make spray paint, but can someone tell me where to find some?

Thanks a bunch.

Try an arts and crafts store, maybe Michaels.

Answer by bellesnailblue42
I found some at Wal-Mart, believe it or not.

Answer by ngltina
Um go to yellowpages and find it. I didn’t even though there was such a thing.

Answer by michelle A
They do sell spray paint, although, they usually have it locked up because they fear kids will use it for graffiti. I know they sell it at Michael’s and A.C. Moore, the craft stores. Good luck!

Answer by And your point is?…
Go back to Home Depot, or Rona, or Home Hardware, or whatever chain is in your area. If you do find, ask. Everyone still sells it, and will continue to do so for a very long time.

Answer by texas_angel_wattitude
Home Depot has it as does Walmart, Kmart, and any other stores that sell paint (not sure about sherman williams though I suspect they do). I just bought some spray paint from walmart to do an antique milk can and a plastic bird feeder. Even craft stores have them funny how you cant find it because its everywhere. Even in hardware stores like Ace.

wallmart here carries spray paint.
whenever i run into this problem where the big stores no longer carry something that i need i go to the local family owned stores. they will have it. they always do. you may need to go a town or two away to find a mom and pop store but you will find that you are much more satified than going to the big guys. if they dont have exactly what you are looking for they will order it for you. often without deposit unlike the big stores. then if you dont like it when it comes in they just put it on the shelf for the next customer. always service with a smile. also no annoying teenie bopers or lazy old farts to be found in those store. helps keep the mom and pop from completely disapearing, and helps the local economy. so its a win win.

I have a bookshelf and a computer amour that are both made of a laminate finish. Any tips on painting them? Would spray paint work?

Spray paint might work but it will take some preparation. First wash everything down with a solution of TSP (you can find this in any hardware or home improvement shop for just a couple of dollars) and rinse well. I can’t stress enough how important rinsing is. Then take a sander or sandpaper and rough up your surfaces. You aren’t looking to sand them down, just scuff the surface to give your paint something to hang on to. Let dry well and if you aren’t thrilled with the results (it can look a little one dimensional) try a couple of coats of polyurethane.

Good luck!

Of course. Half the stuff sold is for dealing with awkward furniture shapes. The laminate is going to have to be sanded to take the gloss off and give the paint something to grip. You will probably be better off if you clean the surfaces very thoroughly with soap and water to get all dirt and grease off.

emm well laminate might make any type of paint peel off in a short time u could try that rustolium Brand multi surface spray paint but idk if it will adherer to the laminate surface any better than spray paint , we had a coffee table that was laminate and when we put glasses on it and the paint would stick to the bottom of the glass and make a mess long after it was dry i would assume that the weight of a computer or monitor would do the same but remember we used brush paint
good luck

I’ve spray painted a lot of laminate finished furniture. I don’t sand it because I’ve left scratches that are noticeable after spraying. I use Paseo liquid sand now to take down the gloss before I paint. If you are going from a dark color to a light one, spray on a stain blocking primer (this helps a lot if the laminate has a fake wood grain finish to keep it from bleeding through). I find the new Kyrlon paint for plastics performs best on laminates and won’t fade, peel, blister or flake. But, I just tried the new multi-surface Rustoleum over the weekend and other than the fact that it takes longer to cure fully, it adheres well and the new trigger enables you to spray from any angle.

Answer by love2DIY
Yes, I’ve done it several times. you can very easily use the Rustolium spray paints. The directions on there will tell you to lightly sand the surface and that’s all that’s needed. Wal-Mart has them for and several colors and some metallic finishes (I’m currently using a ‘hammered finish’ on some bathroom fixtures). There’s a lot to choose from and they turn out really nice. Just remember to stay a foot or so away from the surface and to spray in a sweeping motion, don’t concentrate on one spot till it’s covered, but rather do several light coats till you’re satisfied.

Spray paints are the least messy and most convenient way to paint something like that, but you will need a LOT of cans (depending on how large the item is). A more cost efficient way is to purchase a pint of paint from a paint or hardware store and simply sand thoroughly and then paint with a brush or roller. if you get a high gloss paint, that will eliminate the need for a polyurethane top coat.

Good Luck

I spray-painted this little shelf for the kitchen. Eventually the kitchen will be a granny-smith-apple-green (if I can convince Tripp) with red accents.
