Welcome to my blog,In the blog: best paint for furniture and buy antique furniture paint.
Question–: How to ask my parents to paint my room?
I have had my room painted 2 times already and my parents don’t want me to paint my room. I want to paint it a white with a light tint of peach. How could I persuade them to let me paint my room? Thanksxx

First off, while paint is the most inexpensive way to change the look of your room, it is by no means cheap. You state that they have already painted your room twice, but do not give a time span (10 years ago; 5 years ago; last year; last month; last week). Having that information would help us to help you. If it was any of the last three, you may have to resign yourself to working around/dealing with the color/style you have now. If you’d give a little more info, you may get better responses.

I tried getting the paint swatches from Home Depot and it’s just too hard to visualize them covering the entire room. I tried getting sampler cans from my two favorite colors and they just looked bad on the wall. Is there an online resource where I can see different rooms painted in different colors to give me an idea of what I like best?

It’s hard to see how a color will react with a teeny tiny swatch..Those are great for color matching an item not painting a whole wall with a color. Here’s a trick I use for my clients that works great…Go to a fabric store or find clothing or sheets at home. Grab a yard of several colors you like and tack it to the wall in various places. When you have honed in on your choice. Be sure to place it in several areas of the room to see how it plays. Then bring that fabric to the store to have it either computer matched or look through the samples yourself.
If you upload a picture to Flickr we can help steer you in a direction. Choosing a color can be daunting. You want something that won’t make you regret your choice after all the work. Also something that will play with the 4 seasons nicely. Neutrals are always a good thought but can be boring. Accent walls can be nice but they chop your room up. Viewing online is impossible because it is dependent on your monitor and the quality of the photo and lighting you took the image in.

I use this site:
https://www.sherwin-williams.com/visualizer/
You can register for free and upload a picture of your room or choose one of their scenes. Coose a color and it will show 2 coordinating colors that go with it for accent or trim.
I love this site!!!

The difference in the paint color and what appears on your computer screen won’t give you an exact match. The only way to judge what is pleasing to you is to paint one wall, stand back and visualize the entire room done in that color, or use one darker color for contrast and use a lighter shade of the same color for the rest of the walls. Designers do this all the time. I can add one more technique you might consider; sponge painting the room in at least 3 different shades of the same basic color. I have sponge painted my kitchen and dining room with 3 shades of a dark tan color; it hides all dirty marks, looks textured, and I may not have to do anything more than touch-ups for the rest of my life on those walls. I love it! I rolled a base coat of off-white color on all the walls, then used a sea sponge to apply layers of a darker tan colors here and there on the walls. If you decide to go with this unusual technique – e-mail me and I will give you tips and directions for success.

Go to Home Depot, they’ve got brochures with lots of color match ideas.
THe folks at the paint counter usually know paints and colors too.
