I have a little desk that is currently painted white flat paint, the person I bought it from did a quick and not very good job painting it. I also have a white dresser that has been painted with a high gloss paint and I have a day bed that is stained a honey color. I want to paint all these pieces the same color white. I want them all to be a type of paint that is wipeable and smooth. What is the best way to go about this and the best type of brush and paint to use? I was told that they sell certain type of brushes that does not show the brush stroke marks as much. Any ideas PLEASE!

When you go to home depot or a similiar type store buy 2 brushes. The first one is a perdee, they are more expensive and work really good on 90% of the projects…take good care of that brush, it could actually last your lifetime. The other brush is the cheap foam type, I use them on surfaces, wood and some metal that I want no brush strokes. That will depend on your surface, paint more than anything the most important thing is the prep….follow the instructions on the paint can…

Buy a good quality brush with natural bristles (not poundshop type) and use eggshell paint by Dulux. Lightly sand down the furniture to give a key for the new paint. I did this to a piece of furniture..two coats and there’s not a brushmark in sight. Take your time and maybe look at the Dulex website before you start.

Make sure you sand the furniture well before painting over it. I would prime it too. We just painted several rooms and used this handled tool with a flat pad rather than a roller. They have large ones for walls and small ones for trim and other projects. WalMart carried them so I’m sure you can get them anywhere. I wasn’t too impressed with the large one on the walls but the small one was great for around trim pieces – it left no bristle marks or lines. You should use a high gloss paint or even enamel so it will wipe down easily.

Painted quite a few bedroom sets when I had my shop.
Could use a melamine cabinet paint from homecenters.
A small good brush will not cost much & a small mohair roller is best for broad surfaces.
Basically , anything you can apply by hand will not be as durable as a hard lacquer sprayed factory finish
I found the best thing was to use auto primer & paint.
Auto spraycans are just fine.
Research auto body prep & painting.
Just pretend you are working on a car.
Anyone who does auto body work will know what to do.
Got a friend who does it?
Best regards

I always thought maybe a light tan or a light green would look great.
Answer by Nenad
If you have already decided that a wall is blue, the other three may be left white or slightly tinted gray, only the furniture would not be lost in the whiteness.

An off-white, beige, or creme would look nice
Answer by Brittany
do two blue walls (across from each other)
then do the other 2 either-lavender/purple (:
Answer by LloydBurrell
Hi,
if you’ve already decided for one light blue wall, you should consider something worm for the other three. White furniture is cold and so is blue. If you’d go for green or gray, the effect would be to violent and you’d end up adding tons of decorations to minimize it.
Try a warm beige. If you’re not completely sure it would match, add a ridiculously small amount of blue tint in your paint and the general impression would be just perfect.
