i would go to somewhere like home depot or lows and look for paint that is either or both wood paint and/or water proof.
if it is wood paint, it will stick into the wood and keep it from deteriorating, and if it is water proof, then it will keep the rain from damaging the funiture and the paint.

Outdoor paint for wood, bare spots need primed, then paint whole thing, two coats, leaving 24hrs tween coats.

Any oil-based paint will last for years but it can’t be applied over a previous coat of emulsion.
I would haul a chair down for the paint guy in a paint store to take a look. It’s worth making sure as if you use the wrong type it will just peel off.

DO NOT USE OIL-BASED paint outside. Use a latex acrylic. This is 2008 people.
Look for the “outdoor furniture paint” available, it’s actually a plastic coating that will “flex” and stand up to the elements.
If you don’t use a quality products outdoors your wasting your time.
Another alternative SW Duration…. a gallon~
And remember, keeping the surface clean will prolong all outdoor finishes….

Question–: What is the best paint or stain to use on outdoor furniture with treated wood?
The following is the answer: (Hint: The reader is not the correct identification.)
Answer by jimmy
it is the brownesh colour which have a little spray of black on a desinged door

I prefer stains for any outdoor wood. They will soak into the wood more than paint and last longer. Sherwin Williams or Home Depot have excellent stains. For treated lumber you need to let it season for at least a year before you paint or stain it. Treated lumber contains a lot of moisture when it is new. If you paint or stain it to soon the finish will bubble and peel as the moisture escapes.

The very best for outdoors is Sikkens brand stain. We did our deck and fence in it 6 years ago. We did a few extra boards for the fence just in case we needed them and had them in storage. Last summer one of the board broke and we took one out of storage and hung it up. You could not tell the new board from the ones that had been up there for 6 years. I live up north and the fence gets a lot of abusive from the weather up here. The stain isn’t cheap but last much longer than anything else we have ever used. they have different kinds for the type of job you are doing.

yes i agree I am a painting contractor in the twin cities and Sikkens is the best stain,it holds up remarkably well through several of our winters and can easily go 5-8 years before any decks we do need re staining.
