Q&A–: What type of paint and polyurethane should i use for a beer pong table?
The table will obviously have liquids spilled on it so i need paint and clear coat that will prevent warping. Should i use acrylic paint, latex paint, or an oil based paint? Should the paint be indoor or outdoor? Should i use a water based polyurethane or an oil based polyurethane? Thanks for your help.

First choice is a two-part (epoxy-like) varnish. Comes in separate cans, mix together and pour. Needs to brush around to get it even. Lacking this, several coats of spray oil based exterior urethane.

Polyurethane

Polyurethane–: How do you upkeep the polyurethane on a piece of furniture?
I have had my coffee table for about 8 years. I put polyurethane on it about 6 years ago to try to protect it. Now it looks like it is waring off. The table looks very dull even after using dust spray on it. Can I just lightly sand it and then use a stain with the polyurethane in or do I have to strip it all the way to the wood? It is a mission style so lots of pickets in it. I really don’t want to have to strip it.

You do not have to strip it all the way down. Use 0000 steel wool on it and make sure it’s clean. Wipe down with isopropyl alcohol(next to rubbing alcohol)and a microfiber cloth. I wipe my poly furniture off with a damp microfiber cloth.

If a gas is injected into a liquid it forms a cellular foam structure. When a thermoset prepolymer of low viscosity is foamed, the polymer can drain from the cell walls (driven by surface tension) before it sets at the cell edges, leaving an open-celled foam. The cell edges have three concave sides. The average co-ordination number for the nodes (where struts meet) is four, giving tetrahedral junctions. The deformation behaviour of the foam was observed by X-ray microtomography at the ESRF in Grenoble. X-ray tomography overcomes the limitations of MRI in terms of contrast, and those of confocal optical microscopy in terms of depth of field.

The principle of x-ray tomography is to re-construct the spatial distribution of the linear attenuation coefficient within the object from X-ray radiographs recorded at different angular settings.

Applications
This open celled polymer foam is a compliant space-filler, used for padding and in furniture. It may also be used as a precursor in processes such as the two-stage casting of a metal foam.
