I’ve been surfing for about 8 months now,
usually on my friends 9’6″ Alex Webb custom epoxy longboard.
Which is worth it, I’m thinking about getting a shortboard.

I’d recommend going for it if: 1) You can afford it, and 2) if you surf a lot. Epoxy boards have a much better lifespan and are much less susceptible to dings.. durability of a board is always an issue if you’re a chronic surfer. They also are a little more buoyant which will allow you to go a little smaller on dimensions than you would on a fiberglass board if you want a smaller board you can whip with a lot more snap.
There’s one downside, epoxy boards are generally mass produced and you can’t really get them ‘custom made’ for you (most critical for undersized or heavy riders who don’t fit the mold of the prototype surfer). If this isn’t a big deal for you though, go epoxy. I plan to experiment with em soon, I hear good things about them.

epoxy boards are made from a mold and are lighter, tougher and more buoyant than regular boards.
Normal boards will ding, dent, snap and eventually have to be replaced after a year or 2. The epoxy boards can take a beating by all accounts and apparently all you have to do is take a scouring pad to the board to get the dirt marks off. Normal boards are made from a ‘blank’ which is a type of hard white foam. This is shaped by hand and then wrapped with a fiberglass sheet and coated with resin. Apparently these boards are the best performers but are prone to damage.

Epoxy is great for high performance surfing. But you must realize that a custom epoxy board will cost some major cash.
Hope this helps,

The following not about Epoxy, also not about the contents of the make money in blog,But ,a little bird told me, it is funny:A bad workman always blames his toolsA friend without faults will never be found.A stitch in time saves nine..Question–: How much would a handyman charge to prep a basement floor for epoxy paint?
I have an unfinished basement with a concrete floor that measures 36′ X 24′. I removed all the old vinyl tile, and I’m left with adhesive residue. There’s also a small area where the concrete needs to be ground down and patched. I have neither the time nor the desire to do all the work to prepare the floor for epoxy paint. How much would a handyman charge for this in the suburban Detroit area? How long would it take? What all needs to be done?

The whole floor needs to be grounded down, vacuumed, then dry mopped. An average price for that would be 400-600 dollars.

Hello Jordan,
I am sure MC knows exactly what she is talking about and her price is probably spot on. I am letting you know that you can do it yourself for a lot less. Also because it is the basement you could take your time and do a little every day.
I stained the concrete floors on my 1st floor and that involved removing carper, the tack strips and all that carpet glue. We used a hammer for the tack strips and a scraper and belt sander for the glue. Once you have that done, sweep and mop the floor and make sure the floor is satisfactory. When I removed my tack strips I actually pulled up pieces of concrete so I then went and bought a concrete product at Lowe’s (real cheap and small pkg) and you spoon that in the hole and run a large putty knife over to ensure the holes are now flat. Let that dry and you are now ready for the epoxy paint.
Painting the floor was actually quite easy and you just paint the floor like you would a wall except you want to start in one corner and work you way out of the room.
Good Luck
