I am a total noob at this, but all I know is that to make acrylic paint adhere to fabric, you have to mix it in a 1:1 ratio with a medium.

I wanted to know what a medium is, and what do you guys recommend using (brand-wise)?

And also, is there a sealer I can use to coat the design when I’m done?

Depends on what you are using it for.

If you are going T-shirts, uses fabric medium. Any brand will do it is pretty much all the same.
Liquitex is very nice and on sale here:

If you are going banners and more static things you can use the paint straight out of the bottle.

No need to do any sealing. The paint is perfectly protected on it’s own

I try to get the same brand fabric medium as paint, otherwise any fabric medium. You don’t need a sealer, speaking as one who has got acrylics onto her best tee shirt and has never managed to shift it! My painted fabrics have stayed put over years of washing.
