I was lulled in by how much fun I had painting my bedroom.

I spent too much time thinking how my black furniture just didn’t go with the brown walls.

I went to the store and bought paint for the living room.

Now I have to paint.

Q&A–: how to paint furniture with a polyester lacquer finish?
I have a piece of furniture with a polyester lacquer finish. I want to paint it black (or another dark color.) I would hate to sand it. Can I just prime it then paint it? The lacquer finish doesn’t feel smooth at all, feels kinda rough instead.
If I can prime it and paint it, can you recommend a primer and latex paint?
Is there any other way to make it into a darker color(it’s currently yellowish) other than prime-and-paint?

The only way to properly refinish a polyester lacquer piece of furniture is to do a complete strip and refinish. Anything else and the new finish will just peel off.
