Colored Basotect® offers new creative possibilities when it comes to sound insulation. When the foam is professionally sprayed and printed with a special paint, its very good sound absorption capacity is retained. This means that ultra-sharp images with a velvet smooth surface can be produced without them obviously looking like sound absorbers. Basotect is a flexible, open-cell foam made from melamine resin, a thermoset plastic. Its characteristic feature is its intricate three-dimensional network structure consisting of slender and thus easily shapable filaments. Basotect has a unique range of properties because it is flame-resistant, can be used at temperatures of up to 240°C, is abrasive and has consistent physical properties over a wide temperature range. In addition, Basotect is lightweight, is able to insulate heat, has a high acoustical absorption capacity and remains flexible at low temperatures. These various properties mean that Basotect can be used in many different areas of application, for example for improving the acoustics of rooms, for the thermal insulation of solar installations, in upholstered furniture and mattresses, as well as in automobile manufacture and aircraft construction.
