I’m starting out using acrylic paints on canvas shoes. And I was wondering how Reeves acrylic paints would work and do I have to prep the shoe or paint them in any special way to improve the final product?

The following is the answer: (Hint: The answer is not necessarily.)

Answer by BW
Reeves acrylics should work just fine. For canvas there is no prep as far as I know, but you may want to do a few coats of your base colour before you begin.

There is a pretty simple tutorial here:

Q&A–: What is the difference between acrylic and fiberglass nails at salons?
When getting sculptured nails, what is the difference between acrylic and fiberglass, which one is better and why?

The following is the answer: (Hint: For answers, no site audit.)

Answer by Jackie B
The difference between Acrylic & Fibreglass is basically the strength. Fibreglass is much stronger than Acrylic, and is less prone to cracks and breaks… That is why Fibreglass is generally more expensive.

If you have a small nailbed, you are better getting Fibreglass, however it is entirely up to you. Ask your nail lady if you have any queries!

Answer by sam
i think fiberglass are slightly better for your nails as they allow the nail to breathe which makes them less brittle when you eventually have them removed

Answer by RachelN ♥
Fiberglass nail wraps are good for people with weak, soft, ot bitten nails. However, they are not as strong as acrylic nails, and are not a good choice for people who use their hands a lot as they will easily break apart on this type of person. They are also requested by people who are allergic to acrylic nails, or those who have a fear of acrylics ruining their nails. But overall, acrylic is definitely stronger, and more durable than fiberglass nail wraps will ever be. The one and only reason that they are often more expensive than acrylic nails is because they take so long to apply. It can take several hours to wrap the nails on both hands. Acrylic can be applied in an hour or so. Thus, the price difference that you will sometimes see but that is not always the case. And if they are more expensive, the difference is quite a small sum.
I hope this helps

The following are not relevant to the content of some whitewash paint, also not about the contents of the make money in blog,But, just relax:As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters. –SenecaYou can take a horse to the water but you cannot make him drink. One meets its destiny on the road he takes to avoid it..Q&A–: What paint technique for faux adobe walls?
I am doing my livingroom Spanish style (not Mexico – Spain). After researching I can only find very few colors they used on the walls. Ocre is mainly outdoor but was also used on the interior and of course Adobe. I just hate having plain white walls so I am hoping to use a brownish color on the walls and whitewash with white. Does anyone have any experience with this? I could use the help I’ve never done this technique. I also dont know if maybe a different technique would better mimic adobe walls.

Thanks !

The following is the answer: (Hint: The reader is not the correct identification.)

Answer by dali333
i would paint a base coat of ocre first. after its dried completely. do a color wash using a very thin reddish/brown glaze . after that is dried , dry brush very lightly over all walls with an off white.
try your techniques first on posterboard until you get the colors and finish that you are happy with.

Answer by Paul in San Diego
One thing you might do before painting is to texture the walls so that they look like adobe.

You’ll need to get a box of drywall mud (comes in a 50 pound box), a stucco brush, a 6-inch spackle knife, a bucket to thin out the mud, and a drywall sanding screen (optional). Also, make sure to get lots of dropcloths, because this is a very messy procedure.

Scoop some mud into the bucket and dilute it with water until its the consistency of stirred mayonaise (not so much that it’s runny, but enough that you can scoop it up with the stucco brush). Take a brush full of mud and fling it at the wall. It should stick to the wall and not run down the wall. If it’s too runny, scrape it off with the spackle knife, put it back into the bucket, and add more mud to thicken it.

Fling the mud at the wall to cover it, but not completely. The mud will be the high points of the texture and where there is no mud will be the low point. When the wall is covered, let it sit and dry for about 15 minutes.

Lightly drag the spackle knife across the blobs of mud to flatten them. Go in different directions in different areas of the wall so as not to create a definite pattern. When you’re done, let it dry for a couple of days. After it’s dry, you can lightly sand it with a drywall sanding screen to smooth out rough edges or just leave it rough. If you sand it, brush it off with a soft broom to remove the dust. Prime and paint.

It’s really a lot easier than it sounds, once you get the hang of how to do the splattering of mud and the knockdown (flattening) technique. And, it really gives a great adobe-like texture.

Give your answer to this question below!

by TLVshac

Welcome to my blog, blog: painting wooden furniture and buy painting wooden furniture.
The following not about whitewash paint, also not about the contents of the shoe blog,But ,a little bird told me, it is funny:Behind every successful man, there is a woman. And behind every unsuccessful man, there are two.A friend is never known till a man has need.he world puts off its mask of vastness to its lover.it becomes small as one song, as one kiss of the eternal..whitewash paint–: How can I stain furniture with paint?
I have a plain hutch that I want to be green, but I don’t want to entirely hide the natural grain of the wood. I’ve heard of whitewashing or pickling, but I don’t want it to be white, I’d like for it to be a green color. I’m thinking I just need to sand it down to remove the finish, then take green paint and thin it with glaze or water or something, wipe it on and wipe it off against the grain, then seal with. Is this the right way to go about doing this?

The following is the answer: (Hint: For answers, no site audit.)

Answer by Mike S
Try looking at latex stains, the color palette these days is pretty amazing.
Look at semi-transparent & lighter, these let you see the grain.

The following is the answer: (Hint: The answer is not necessarily.)

Answer by Amanda
I’ve seen a commerical recently for a kind of spray paint that works well on furniture. My advice would be to go to your local home improvement store and check out what’s in the paint aisle. I’m sure on the cans there would be instructions on how to.

Answer by this_tootsies_taken
You can buy a product called Kilz that you paint on and gives you a better surface for whatever color you choose. You would just use regular interior paint but for furniture I would go for something with a high gloss.

Answer by hjkrol59
i would strip it down to the natural wood and buy a darker stain, like dark maple or dark oak.

Answer by Jim
Wipe the furniture with denatured alcohol, to remove grease (from handprints, fingers, etc.). Paint with High gloss lacquer of your color choice. Spray-on produces better results. Apply in several thin coats, rather than heavier coats. It decreases your chance of runs. If it gets a run in it, wait a month or so (until the lacquer hardens), lightly sand out the run, and re-apply paint.

Answer by boardbetty
If the furniture has a shiny top coat you will need to scuff that up first, then pick a really good primer. Kilz is great and on the side of the can tells you what surfaces it adheres to the best. Interior paint is fine because it wont be exposed to any outdoor elements ie: rain etc. Then pick your color and sheen of paint. (flat, egg shell, satin, semi-gloss or gloss.) The higher the sheen the more durable your paint will be.

Answer by Aj~
i understand that u don’t like the color of the oak. so y not stain it a deeper color instead of painting it? But it would b a lot of sanding. IF sanding isn’t really u’r cup of tea… then i would go w/ the Kilz/Bin/Zinseer primer… have them tint it the color that u would pick for the paint. B/c choc. brown will take several coats unless u have a primer. Make sure u have smooth strokes & don’t go cheap on the brush.. it really does matter.

Then u can 1 of 2 things.. go w/ a flat paint & then use a semi-gloss or gloss acrylic varnish over it… or go w/ a semi-gloss or gloss paint.

Kilz makes a paint that is pretty thick which mite work good on u’r furniture so u won’t have to use too many coats along w/ the primer.

Then when u r done, put a fan on it so it would dry esp. if it’s humid where u live b/c the humidity will prolong the drying time.

do the drawers OUT of the dresser & make sure u take the handles off. Make sure it is completely dry… not tacky b/4 u put the handles on OR clothes back in or anything on it.

have fun!

furniture paint

The following not about furniture paint, also not about the contents of the shoe blog,But, just relax:Behind every successful man, there is a woman. And behind every unsuccessful man, there are two.Never put off the work till tomorrow what you can put off today.By reading we enrich the mind, by conversation we polish it..furniture paint–: How long does it take for interior latex wall paint to dry? I need to put furniture against the walls.?
I am repainting my bedroom, but I need to know how long I will need to wait, after two coatings, before I can put my bed against the wall and bookcase, dresser, and desk. I don’t wanna end up with paint on my furniture or rubbing it off with my blanket or body, since I sleep against the wall.
I live in NJ. Currently, there’s 46% humidity.

The answer in the following: (Hint: The reader is not the correct identification.)

Answer by Debbie V
I don’t know where you live, and that’s important. I live in TX where the humidity is high. If it were in TX and you were applying latex to a wall, I’d say you’d be okay in 48 hours. Latex to trim, though, I’d give it closer to a week, esp if you used 2 coats.

In a dryer place I imagine you could cut that time in half.

TX Mom

P.S. I use oil-based paint on the trim. Humidity keeps latex soft, and easy to accidentally scratch off.

Answer by sammm
It depends on the weather. If it’s humid, it will take longer. If it’s cool in your house, that will also add time. There should be a rough dry time on the paint can. Just make sure nothing it tacky when you’re ready. For paint to fully cure, it actaully takes up to two weeks, but you’re fine to put your stuff back when it’s no longer tacky.

Answer by M45goi89
Latex paint can be dry to the touch in 1 hour. 24 hours is the total time needed for it to be totally dry and safe.

Answer by Pops
It’s dry enough to move furniture into place after a few hours. I wouldn’t lean anything against the wall until the next day, though.

I also recommend sleeping in another room that first night, until the paint outgasses a bit. The outgasses aren’t exactly healthy. You can do an internet search for “latex paint outgas” and find different recommendations; I recommend mimimal exposure for 24 hours. Then open the windows and ventilate a bit before sleeping in the room.

Just close the hall door if it is winter, blow the smelly air out the window, then close the windows and open the hall door again.

http://www.healthyhomeplans.com/articles/information5.php

How can you color your world without making yourself blue? One simple way is to choose water-based paints over oil-based. Latex paint (water-based) contains 50% less VOCs than oil-based paint and is more resistant to mildew. Many giants in the paint industry, such as Glidden, Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams, now manufacture low-VOC and zero-VOC paints as well.
http://www.herbalmusings.com/home_green_home.htm

Answer by ♥s & Roses
It needs about a week to fully cure. I wouldn’t put anything against the walls, especially fabric ( like a bvlanket ) that might create a pattern on paint that is not fully cured, for at least 48 hours.

Answer by Ms. Pretty P
It depends on the temperature on how fast the room drys. Humidity will keep the paint moist. I would suggest you let it dry over night before placing the furniture. Even when dry, try not to put the furniture right up against the wall without some sort of padding behind the furniture as it will rub the wall and either cause dents or chips. They sell felt pads to place behind furniture that sits against the wall.

Answer by mommas_molly
It will have alot to do with where you live due to humidity, temperature etc. Also if the 1st coat was good & dry B4 you put the 2nd coat on it. If you haven’t done the 2nd coat yet dont do it till a day you can do early in the morning. &/or when doing the 2nd, start on the wall where your bed goes & start at the bottom of the wall. Every minute of dry counts. If the 2nd coat is done put a fan blowing on it, ceiling fan work good too. If you have a dehumidtifier put it in the room. I would go a head move your furniture back in BUT not up against the wall. Leave all furniture out an inch or so for at least 1 day. 1 coat should dry to the touch in 1-2 hours. I wouldnt give it a second thought to have my bed moved back BY the wall, a couple of inches out after 2 coats and 4-5 hours. 2 coats should be dry to the touch with in 3-5 hours and not rub off onto the bedding. One might be able to scratch into in the paint with their finger nail for 4-5 but your going to bed and sleeping, You’ll be fine! As long as your furniture doesnt come in contact with the paint for several hours, it’s all good! Leave the funiture out though at least 1″ , 4-5″‘s would be better and safer. I’m telling you accidents happen. If your in to much of a hurry & a corner of a dresser comes in contact with the paint it will scratch right down through those 2 coats. It to much work to ruin. I’ve done ton’s of painting, probably more than 1 person should do in 1 life time. Good luck but I don’t think you’ll need it if you follow the above.

Answer by Smirkz
I would wait at least 24 hours if you can. Two days at the most.

Answer by Puddintane
Make sure the first coat is dry before putting on the 2nd coat. Have an oscillating fan in the room while painting to dry the paint.

I paint houses for a living and I can paint a room, go paint another room and the first room is dry enough for the 2nd coat after I have painted the 2nd room. Paint usually takes 72 hours to cure. But, you can move your furniture back.

Do leave your bed a couple of inches from the wall so that that area cures for the 72 hours after the 2nd coat.

If the heat is on and the fan is running, the paint dries pretty fast.

Answer by hippiechick
As long as your stuff isn`t touching the walls…right away…it will still dry with something next to it…it will dry in a couple of hours anyway!!

Answer by saaanen
There are many new spray paints on the market. If you prime first you can use any of them. Check your home improvement stores for what you want and go for it.

Answer by boardbetty
Check the paint section of you local hardware store.(bigger the store more variety) You can buy many different finishes to look like brushed steel, copper. Find the products that are specific for metal and make sure you prime them first or the paint will just come off.

I love my room but it is becoming a little 11 year oldish for me (I am 14). I have had three pieces of furniture since I was born and the wood is a chestnut-y colour.
I thought I could make it a little more grown up by making it simpler. I have tidied it up to get a clear view and I think it would look okay in the colours of purple and white and my great painting by Doug Hyde to break it up.
My floor is cream, my wardrobes + skirtingboards are white, my bedspread, antique chair, curtains + lamp are purple (won’t be changing any of that) but it’s the wood I want to change.
My desk, chair, bedside table + bed are plain chestnut but I want it white and my childhood toybox, shelf and other bedside table are the same colour but with sweet patterns that I want to keep.

Is it possilbe to paint my childhood furniture WITHOUT going over the cute patterns?
How much will it cost to re-paint the chestnut furniture white?
thankyou x

Answer by HaK, the Pansexual Panda
well first u need to ask ur parents. to keep the pattern, i’m not sure. is it panted on? if so, u could trace it before you paint then paint it back on later, or if it’s carned into it’ll be fine.
and cost, is simply however much paint u need. go to walmart for preices. ti’s rather cheap though.
