Question–: Building an H0 scale room?
I’ve dabbled in miniatures for years, and dioramas for months, but I need some help with my current project.

I’m trying to do an H0 scale replica of Sherlock Holmes’ study, based largely off this illustration:

I’ve already purchased furniture, windows and a door from Scale Structures Ltd. But I have no idea how to construct the room itself. I fear because it’s so specific I may have to scratch build it. What’s a good material to use?

I have experience with hydrocal and polymer clay, but I’m not sure either will work well for this. Any advise would be most appreciated.

Also, does anyone know who makes good wood flooring, wall paper, etc. in H0 scale? I bought a sheet of wood flooring from SS Ltd but it looks awful.

I use a product called Gator board for some of my HO projects. I’ve also used styrofoam insulation to imitate cement or concrete building exteriors.See if any of the flooring companies have discontinued samples. Sometimes they have scraps from jobs that wind up being thrown away. You will wind up scratch building unless you have very deep pockets and can afford period correct elements. In other words, you’re going to have to spend heavy to get the right stuff!

The following not about baker furniture,also not about the contents of the computer help,But, just relax:A bird in the hand is worth than two in the bush.An ounce of luck is better than a pound of wisdom.Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise..baker furniture–: I don’t get how people survive?
in this society:

Even if I were to become a gardener or baker/chef,
these people earn just per hour…you would be lucky to earn .

How are people able to buy a home, a car, health-insurance, furniture,
clothing, food, utitilies and all the essentials…..with this kind of salary? (in the United States)

I mean: do they sleep in their car? do they band together and live 5 people to a home?

Keep in mind – that they don’t pay taxes.
They get everything back, and some extra.
They finance everything under the sun and spend their lives struggling..

It’s possible-VERY possible. dollars an hours put you at about ,000.00 a year, which is above poverty level in the good old USA. With some smart purchasing decisions and savings (10% of income) within 5 short years ,000 could be saved. There’s alot that can be done wiith k.

I lived off minimum wage as a single parent for about five years. I owned my car outright (had saved up to purchase it), had an apartment, bought groceries, clothing, household items, etc. I went without cable and internet for three years simply because it wasn’t in the budget. I had health insurance through my employer and my son had the state’s free health insurance. Unless you’re in very high cost city, it’s possible to live well off of minimum wage – you just have to use your money wisely and know how to save. I actually was in a better financial position then many others who were making more money – I had no debt and a large savings. I was only making .00/hour when I purchased my first home and have since sold it and am in the process of building a new home (I now earn more money, but not much over /hour)… and I feel like it’s great money. I drive my cars until they die and always pay for them in-full with cash to avoid a car payment. I have a decent college fund for my son, a retirement fund for myself, an emergency fund, and two additional savings’ accounts.

Best advice… learn to save and budget and you can do fine on any income.
